National Water Vole Report published
Water voles are one of the UK’s most threatened mammals. Led by The Wildlife Trusts and delivered by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, The National Water Vole Database Project was established in 2008 to collate water vole records, map distributions and identify key areas for conservation. The project recently published a new report, revealing that we have halted the decline of water voles in key areas. However, their overall range continues to shrink so Water voles still urgently need our help.
The report covers the period from 2013-2022 so does not capture the full impact of the mink eradication in Norfolk and Suffolk so the next report will be the first where we can measure our success.
